A Christian once asked a Muslim: 'Why do girls cover up their hair and body?'
The Muslim smiled and took 2 sweets from his pocket. He opened the first one and kept the other one wrapped. He threw them both on the dusty floor and asked the Christian: 'If I asked you to take one of the sweets, which one will you choose?'
The Christian replied: 'The wrapped one.'
Then the Muslim said: 'That's how Islam and the Shariah (Islamic Law) has commanded our women to appear in public life & in the presense of strangers. In that way their dignity and status are much more valued than when they exposed their beauty to all & sundry.'
